One Good Dog…

The Ideal Dog

The Ideal Dog

And three not so good dogs!

Bear has been with us for five days now, and he has settled in nicely. Unfortunately, Lewy has still not accepted him, and the two have to be kept apart most of the time. I don’t know whether it’s his size that upsets Lewy, or just that he thinks Bear is getting too much attention.

Having Bear around though is making me realize how spoiled my own dogs are. Bear is such a good dog. He only barks when strangers come around, he never gets on the furniture (unlike my boys), he doesn’t go around “marking his territory”, and he’s no where near as hyper as our boys.

Yesterday afternoon we let him loose in the yard while we worked on stone raking it, and he stayed right in the yard with us. He never tried to run off, he didn’t constantly beg for attention. The kids love it! We wish we could let the rest of the dogs loose like that, but Jack and Lewy always run off when they are off their leashes. But not Bear. Now we don’t even have to leash him to take him potty, I just open the door and let him out. I of course stand on the porch and wait for him, as he’s too new to let out alone (at least in my opinion). If only Lewy would take a liking to him! Bear really is the ideal dog!

Well, David’s dad had offered to take him, unfortunately his girlfriend said no, so Bear is still looking for a loving home! All I can say to potential owners is that you won’t find a better behaved, more friendly dog than Bear. And he’s already fully housebroken, and well trained.  He loves to play fetch, or just devil with the kids, but he’s also great at entertaining himself when everyone’s busy.  He’ll play with his tennis ball himself, chasing it around the house, or given a bone, he’ll lay down and chew it until someone calls for him, very self-sufficient!  He’ll make a wonderful companion to any dog friendly home!
