Ariana spent her first 3 nights/ 4 days away from home/mom and dad during the family camping trip this past weekend. It was the first time my parents thought she was old enough to go with out me and Russ. She did fine. They left Thursday afternoon and just returned home last night. Mom said she got a little fussy yesterday morning, like maybe she was getting homesick. I think she was probably just tired as she crashed as soon as we got her home last night and i just woke her this morning. As long as she has her DD (David) with her, she usually does fine. David has been traveling with my parents since he was about a year old. They take him nearly everywhere in the summer.
The dogs on the other hand didn’t do as well. They missed the kids something terrible. Lewy, who is David’s constant companion, was lost all weekend. He laid beside me where ever I was, looking miserable. He hasn’t really taken to anyone but David, and when David isn’t around he usually sticks close to Ariana. With them both gone, he was totally lost.
I missed them terribly, although I did get a lot of work done while they were gone, it was strange to be able to work straight through Friday without hearing “Mom, come here.” or “Mom, I’m hungry.” at all… I guess it’s a preview of how my days will be this fall when Ariana starts kindergarten… Just me and the dogs… Well, at least I have the dogs and can’t be accused of talking to myself… I’m talking to them!
