Kids and Money…

My sister and I take turns taking our kids to swimming lessons at the local school, she does Tuesdays, I do Thursdays. This morning as I am getting my daughter ready, she sees me tuck a five dollar bill into her back pack.

“That’s for Aunt She’s.” She tells me.

“That’s to pay for your swimming lesson.” I reply.

“You could buy something with that.” She eyes it up.

“I am buying something with it. I’m buying your swimming lesson.”

“No Mom, I mean you could go to the store and buy something with it.”

“But then you wouldn’t be able to go to swimming lessons.”

“You gave them one of those last week. They don’t need another one this week.” (Yes, we’re still talking about the five dollar bill.)

“It costs one of those for every swimming lesson you take.”

“But we could go to the store and spend it on toys.” A little gleam comes to her eye as she imagines what she could buy.

“But then you couldn’t take swimming lessons.”

“Yes, I could. I’ll just ask Daddy for more dollar bills.”

A child’s solution to everything, just ask Dad for more money….
