The First Thing We Learn…

When we learn about animals, is to never try and break up a dog fight!   My advice – ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS!  Even though it’s hard to do when you see an animal that you love being torn apart.

I forgot it last night, when Jack attacked Bear.  I tried slamming a book against my leg (making a loud noise), but although it had worked every time previously, they ignored it.  Bear being so much bigger than Jack had a clear advantage, and was tearing my poor little guy apart.

So I did something very very stupid, and I got in the middle of it.  I tried to grab Bear’s collar to pull him away, and I missed.  He was so determined to get Jack that he didn’t even realize it was mommy that he was biting.  I did finally break it up by going after Jack instead, I was able to get a hold of him, pull him out and stuff him in his crate.  But by that time my kitchen was covered in blood, my kids were both screaming and Woobie and Lewy barking non-stop.

I didn’t even realized I was bleeding until I saw my hand prints on Jack’s white coat.  Then I saw the kitchen – what a mess.

Even though we hated to do it, and we all cried, Bear was taken to the local shelter.  Hopefully, they can find him a good home, where little brats like mine won’t pick on him, and where he can be happy.  He’ll make someone a very good dog!  (Even now, I’m trying not to cry as I type this.)

We’ll miss you Bear!  Although we only had you a short time, we all came to love you very much!
