I ran across a great website the other day showcasing pearls at their best. This old time jewelry favorite, that we often think of as our mother’s or grandmother’s jewelry, isn’t just for tea parties anymore.

OrientalPearls.net has a huge selection of loose pearls, pearl jewelry, and much, much more.

I personally love the Black or Peacock Pearls, that they showcase in the colored pearls section. I think they would be beautiful, for both casual or dressy affairs. But if dark colors aren’t your thing, they have a multitude of colored freshwater or cultured pearls to choose from.

So be sure to stop in and check out OrientalPearls.net for all your jewelry making pearls, and pearl jewelry needs!

Unlike most little girls, Ariana isn’t in to Barbie, or the Bratz or Hannah Montana, or anything really girly. Her favorite character is Scooby Doo. She’s always saying that’s she’s Scooby Doo’s biggest fan.

If there’s nothing on TV that she likes and she wants to watch a DVD, ninety-nine percent of the time it’s a Scooby Doo disc that she picks. Like her father, she likes the older Scooby Doo movies the best, but she’s willing to watch any of them.

When she wants to play games on her computer, she likes the websites that have Scooby Doo games the best. Such as:

Scooby Doo Games and Activities – The Warner Brother website

Scooby Doo Games – The Warner Brothers Kids Website

YuJu.tv – An Online Arcade that has tons of games besides Scooby Doo

Even the Cartoon Network has a bunch of great Scooby Doo Games online.

All of which are great kids websites that even a six year old can play.

Other Scooby Doo game sites that we visit less often, either because the games are too hard for her, or because we’re simply not fond of the sites are:

Scooby Doo Arcade

Stumpy Games

Sugar Free Games

Yo Games

Gamez Hero

Girl Games 24/7

Vina Arcade

Y3

And probably many more that I can’t think of right now.

A lot of the website may have the same games, but not always.

As I was reading the hundred and one blogs that I keep up with this morning, I ran across a link to this site:

Wish Upon a Hero – No wish too large. No hero too small.
Wish Upon A Hero was first conceived by founder Dave Girgenti shortly after the September 11th attacks on New York City. From his home in NJ, Girgenti watched as thousands of people posted pictures of missing loved ones throughout the city. He thought there had to be a faster, more organized way to connect people in need. That was the moment in which the idea was born.

Cast a wish
Wish Upon A Hero is completely free to its users, allowing everyone who registers the opportunity to cast up to three wishes at a time. Because Wish Upon A Hero is designed to help everyone, wishes can be big or small, elaborate or simple, based on financial need or just asking for a simple favor.

Be a hero
Wish Upon A Hero is a unique venue for any individual, organization, or company looking to make a difference in someone’s life, or the lives of countless people. Heroes come in all ages and from all walks of life. All of us, from our nation’s most powerful corporations to individual philanthropists, and those with limited financial means, can be someone’s hero:

A man who buys uniforms for his town’s little league team.

A plastic surgeon brings his skill to the aid of an uninsured breast cancer survivor.

A national appliance retailer that donates a refrigerator to a single mom with a newborn.

A groundskeeper at Yankee stadium who helps a woman fulfill her father’s lifelong dream of throwing a single pitch across home plate.

A group of 8th graders that rally behind a fellow student whose home was lost in a fire.

A woman who writes to a man in Seattle to say, “I think I’m the sister you’ve been looking for since we were separated 21 years ago.”

A female soldier stationed in Iraq who says, “yes, I will.”

Once a wish is granted, the hero can choose to remain anonymous, or be formally recognized on the Wish Upon A Hero website.

After spending at least an hour browsing through the wishes, I’ve realized what a wonderful site it is. The wishes range from people asking you to send birthday, or postcards to their children to brighten up their day, or prayers for sick loved ones, to financial assistance to buy everything from groceries to saving houses from foreclosure.

I know that times are tight, and most of us are just making ends meet as it is. But we could all at least learn a little from the site, if not grant a few small wishes! A prayer doesn’t cost anything, and lets people know that there are still caring people in the world.

Can you be a hero?

We are always looking for a way to organize our huge DVD collection. Due to the lack of storage space, we usually throw out the original packaging (or store it empty in our garage attic) and put our DVDs in binders. But trying to find the movie you want to watch is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

So today, I searched online for ways to organize an out of control DVD collection and came up with this:

MovieCollectorPlus – A website that lets you build your movie database online, and give each movie a number that corresponds. You then print out your list and put your DVDs in order in your binders. You can then find the exact DVD you are looking for by referring to your list, or simply logging into the website and searching your collection. (Accounts with MovieCollectorPlus are free!)

Another advantage of the website is that it also shows you the original case cover, and a brief description of the movie. Which is very helpful, as we often don’t remember what a DVD is about by just looking at the disc. I can’t wait to get started, and finally be able to find the disc we are looking for, or remember what a certain movie is about without having to watch part of it!

I have been asked by a few of my web design clients about the new ad service by ScribeFire, called ScribeFire Quick Ads. As I’ve never used it before, I can’t really give them an answer, and I hate that. I hate not being able to answer client questions no matter the subject, so I try and make it my business to find an answer for them!

So I’ve installed it on a few of my own blogs to try it out.

I love the ScribeFire Firefox Addon, as it allows you to post to your blogs without the hassle of logging in and navigating your way through the admin pages. I always recommend it to my clients, especially un-tech savy clients, because it makes their lives easier. You can manage an unlimited number of blogs just from your Firefox browser, and it supports many of the popular blogging platforms, whether you have a self hosted blog, as all of mine are, or if you use many of the free blogging services out there. I myself prefer self hosted WordPress blogs, but do have a few clients that are always asking for help on free services such as WordPress.com, or Live Journal. I do not recommend Blogspot, or Blogger to anyone.

So, please deal with me as I try out this new service from the creators of Scribefire! And let me know if you feel the advertising is too “in your face” or if it’s not too bad. Also, if you happen to see any non-family friendly ads showing on my sites, please notify me immediately, as my children are often visiting our family site and such and I really don’t want to catch my thirteen year old son staring at pictures of scantily clad women on my own site!
