Haley, are they the same color green or two different greens? From one side it looks a light and then a dark green. Don’t you love taking the idea you have in your head to the canvas of your walls? LOL I have faith in you and Russell. Before you know it, it will be done and beautiful.

It’s a few different colors – as we’ve painted it a few different times. We pick out a color that we think we will love, get it home and get it one the walls and absolutely hate it, so we start over. Right now the main walls are a dry brushed technique of dark green (spinach) over mint green with a layer of bronze metallic paint too. It doesn’t look too bad, but the dark green was supposed to match the kitchen and it doesn’t, not at all. So we’re currently thinking about adding a top layer of a green that matches the kitchen. The wall with the fireplace I had looking wonderful, until I had to touch it up and couldn’t match my sponging pattern, so we ended up going over the whole thing again and it didn’t look as good, so I made it even worse by trying to fix it. I plan on repainting it yellow this weekend and trying the sponging again to get it the way I want it.
It’s a good thing paint is cheap! Now if only both Russ and I weren’t color blind, or maybe it’s just that we’re color stupid!
But I do love the yellow that we painted my office! At least we got one room right so far!

Haley, Here are a few suggestions i learned over the years. They may help you and Russ in selecting your colors. I am confident you will make your home beautiful no matter whatyou decide. It looks like you want to make your fireplace wall the focal pnt.in your room. Try selecting a color or two from you furniture and carpeting and fireplace. Use those colors for the fireplace wall. Then select a lighter shade of the one of the colors and use it for the remaining walls and trim. This will expand the room and take your eye directly to the fireplace. By painting the trim the same color of the wall will merge the room instead of breaking it up.
Love Mom.

Thank you Jane! We’ll have to keep it in mind.
I need your new address to send the school pictures to.
